The Museum of Natural Scienceis a five part complex housing the Burke Baker Planetarium, Wortham IMAX Theatre, Cockrell Butterfly Center and three floors of natural science halls and exhibits. There are many permanent exhibit areas that concentrate on astronomy, space science, Native Americans, paleontology, energy, chemistry, gems and minerals, seashells, and Texas wildlife. There are also rotating exhibits that range from the History of the Vatican to The Living Genome. As we enter a new century, the Houston Museum of Natural Science is ranked as the nation's 4th most highly attended Museum. It's also the most highly attended attraction in Texas, with an annual attendance of over two million visitors. Founded in 1909, the museum has been educating and entertaining for almost a century.
